the bit about Us ...

Mark Durham
Born 1971 - Egham, Surrey, UK.

After gaining a degree in the solid and promising subject of Fine Art, Mark's future was understandably vague and undecided when he left Newcastle university.

skel.jpg (74478 bytes)Adventure, that's what he said he needed, so he promptly raised 3,000 pounds (sterling) to take part in a 3 month expedition in Botswana with Raleigh International.

After his life changing experiences in the bush, Mark discovered the ocean. He and 'the old man' Charlie (Charles) Durham had their first diving experience in Knysna, South Africa.

Back in London, his thoughts turned oftentimes to the blue water and whalesharks. and despite loved ones giving valuable career advice, Mark decided to do something about his longing to learn more about the odd shaped aquatic mammals known as 'divers'.


He dived headlong (if you pardon the pun) into the 'UK Dive Industry', became a qualified Commercial Diver, PADI Divemaster and Scuba Technician, worked to become General Manager at Ocean Leisure, a large watersports store in London, and then......... ..................Charlie (Charlotte) Grahame walked into Ocean Leisure looking for a job....

Charlotte Grahame

Born 1971 - Muswell Hill, North London, UK.

Charlie started her professional career in the travel industry with First Choice Holidays where her summers were spent as a resort manager in Greece and winters as a ski guide in the French Alps.  Following an unfortunate skiing accident which required a knee reconstruction, Charlie thought her days of travelling were over.   Once recovered and sitting in a room with a view (at a desk on the 14th floor in central London), it didn't take long for the feet to start itching and she soon set her itinerant focus on the Australian Continent where she developed a blossoming interest in the Marine Environment.


After several months travelling,she landed in Airlie Beach, Queensland with $10 to her name and desperate to dive the Barrier Reef

Her eager pleadings with the local boats and dive centres worked but for a price. It took her all of two minutes to discard 16 years of vegetarian morals in order to satisfy the carnivorous clients aboard 'SV Romance' where she worked for the next 8 months as a cook!

Charlie's 12 month brush with Antipodean life ended with the expiry of her visa and returning to London, she found herself teaching Scuba Diving for a large watersport's store in Central London.  It was at this point that she also found herself pursued by the Store Manager.  This rather astute individual (and incidental author of this character analysis) spotted Charlie's ample talents and 9 months later they owned their first Truck......................
