Photographer Profile

Name Mark Durham

Age 30 yrs

Website http://www.divethedream.com

These shots were taken during a sponsored trans-African diving expedition called 'Dive The Dream'. This project was set up and completed with my wife, Charlie in 1999/2000.
Our website 'www.divethedream.com' became a live online dive guide documenting dive sites, centres and marine conservation issues from Cape Town to Kenya. It was during this time that I really began to get to grips with the addictive art of underwater photography.

Current camera equipment Nikon F90x, Subal housing, YS20, YS90, YS60 strobes, Sigma 60mm lens, Sigma 18-35mm lens.

Photographic style Whenever I'm concentrating on photographing the tiny life in the sea, I can't help imagining that a huge pod of dolphins is making a once in a lifetime spectacle right behind me. I've discovered that the larger marine creatures hold my fascination far more than macro life and I now tend to stick to wide-angle photography, ever searching for that 'wow' factor through my viewfinder!

Favourite location So far the eastern coast of South Africa during the Sardine Run. Some of the underwater encounters we had during this time simply blew us away.

Photographic highlights Snorkelling three metres away from two Humpbacked Whales, diving amongst a pod of one thousand Common Dolphins, and witnessing millions of Sardines being fed on by frenzied Dolphins, Sharks and Gannets.
